THIRST: a spell for Christabel

"The final scene in which Christabel becomes unmoored and thrust into cascading flood waters is resonate with feminine symbolism. Water imagery and woman connected from time in memorial as a representation of the unconcsious, as a symbolic union with the mother, as a symbol for rebirth and self actualization, as joining with the primitive the existential feminine, and as representing the individual relation to his or her sexuality. From a psychoanalytic perspective, Bustamante launched upon all of these elements -- it is such a powerful tale."
