It is the moment when the first
light hits the stage that an idea emerges from the darkness
so that it may be shared with an audience. As a new non-profit
organization based in New York City, the First Light
Theater Group has dedicated itself to developing and
producing original works that tell authentic stories
with characters that illuminate the ever-changing social
climate that exists in today's multi-cultural society.
By shedding light on those voices that are seldom heard
or are misrepresented, the Group intends to educate the
community to see beyond its traditional notions of society
and to explore the many layers of truth that exist within
us all. The Group will strive to produce two staged productions
a year, in addition to engaging the community and other
organizations through benefit performances, workshops,
readings, and film projects.

In April 2008, four New York City
based actors discussed their desire to create new, relevant
theater that disrupts the perception of stereotypical stock
characters in and throughout traditional media. With this
intention First Light Theater Group was born, as a New
York City based not for profit Theater Company dedicated
to developing and producing new works that illuminate the
misrepresented and misunderstood. The Group is excited
to shed light upon this new adaptation of Christabel, THIRST as
it demystifies traditional stereotypes of the princess,
the evil seductress and the over zealous patriarch, to
show that nothing is ever as it seems.

First Light Theater Group, Inc.,
is a duly formed 501(c)3 public charity formed in accordance
with the laws of New York State. The company has applied
to the IRS for tax exempt status and is simultaneously
seeking an advance letter of recognition.
